Job Summary
Since 1992, Purple Lights Nights campaign has occurred annually in October to “shine more light” on intimate partner violence in our Fraser Valley community. This year, the campaign seeks student with marketing skills to help plan and deliver the campaign, with support from the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association and Abbotsford Police, Victim Services Unit.
This practicum would focus on creating low-barrier ways for businesses, residents, and community members to show their support. The campaign may include promoting Purple Lights Nights coffee sleeves provided to local businesses, encouraging businesses and residents to put purple lights in their windows, developing social media content, and creating simple calls to action that make it easy for people to participate.
Because this is a focused, short-term campaign, the student would have the opportunity to support the campaign from start to finish. This would include developing the campaign strategy, creating messaging and content, helping execute the campaign across social media and other channels, and supporting post-campaign follow-up.
The campaign would include pre-October marketing to raise awareness, October marketing to encourage participation and share the cause, and post-October marketing to thank participants, share outcomes, and direct people toward future involvement, information, and resources.
