Job Summary
This project is ideal for someone who possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, who can work independently under minimal supervision, and who is passionate about community arts. As a Gallery Assistant, the successful candidate will:
Manage communication with artists and partners regarding details of upcoming exhibitions;
Ensure gallery exhibits and calls for artists are properly promoted online via social media and other event calendars;
Receive gallery exhibition applications and assist in coordinating the adjudication process;
Recruit and schedule volunteer gallery attendants and installation assistants and perform duties in their absence;
Ensure all artists have current memberships, signed contracts and inventory;
Draft or review press releases as necessary;
Circulate and advertise open calls;
Develop one Pop-Up Exhibition, demonstration of skills utilized throughout the semester.
