About the Role
The Theatre Technician Intern will work alongside the Technical Director, gaining hands-on experience in theatre production and technical operations. This position is designed for students looking to develop their skills in lighting, sound, rigging, and stage management while supporting live performances, events, and facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with technical operations for theatre productions, concerts, and events.
Support lighting, sound, video, and stage setup under the guidance of the Technical Director.
Ensure the technical and production needs of facility user groups are met.
Participate in set-up, production, and strike for shows and events.
Assist in maintaining and operating theatre equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Follow all safety procedures and technical standards to ensure a secure working environment for performers and crew.
Adhere to all Chilliwack Cultural Centre policies and procedures.
CANDIDATE: An ideal candidate will have basic to intermediate knowledge of theatre technical operations, including lighting, sound, and rigging. The ability to adapt, take initiative, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. A willingness to learn and grow in a professional theatre setting.
