Job Summary
Working in collaboration with the Fraser Health Authority, this role involves coding forensic nursing service records for survivors of interpersonal violence who have sought an exam at Surrey Memorial Hospital. The practicum student will be required to travel 1-2 days a week to a Surrey-based clinic and code, analyze and write the findings of over 400 records. This will result in the creation of an SPSS database, with opportunities for peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
Candidate: The qualities require a student who is mature, respectful and can work independently, resiliently and have a strong understanding of confidentiality. Some records might be emotionally distressing and involve extreme violence.
Requirement: No prior research experience is required though it would be preferred if completed a second year research-methods course (a third/fourth year research methods/analysis course would be preferred). Preference would be given to students with an interest in studying or working with survivors of intimate partner violence or sexual assault in their future careers.
