Job Summary
Bard in the Valley has been one of Langley’s most visible and impactful theatre companies since 2010. Starting from a grassroots dream of bringing free theatre to Langley City, to now producing two productions a year in multiple venues and in multiple cities, BIV has been expanding and growing year over year and has gathered a large following of patrons and supporters. With high quality productions and a motto of “Shakespeare for all”, BIV is committed to providing the community with productions it can be proud of.
The Production Assistant will help facilitate Bard in the Valley’s Summer touring production. The production is an outdoor Shakespeare production taking place at Township 7 Winery as well as the Douglas Park Spirit Stage in July. The Production Assistant will have a range of responsibilities from administration, marketing and publicity , communication, volunteer coordination, as well as elements directly involved in the production such as set building, prop building, costumes, lighting and sound. The position is flexible and can accommodate the right candidate’s skills and interests.
CANDIDATE:
Bard in the Valley is looking for a self-motivated and mature student who is looking for real world experience in a fast paced, semi-professional theatre company in the Fraser Valley. Experience is less important than willingness to learn and grow new skills and talent. The ability to collaborate and work well with a team is a must.
SKILLS: Some experience and general working knowledge of a theatre production/company is required. Skills with any area of theatre, such as set building, props, lighting, sounds, costumes, stage management, front of house, or marketing are considered assets.
