The No Society: By Survivors, For Survivors is a local charity helping survivors of sexual violence across the Fraser Valley find healing and justice. This is accomplished by bridging the gaps to much-needed resources through in-person peer support, an online local resource hub, and awareness-raising. The No Society is dedicated to all survivor-led services that are dignifying and inclusive.

During this practicum, the student will have the opportunity to be a Shadow Support with a TNS staff member and join peer support sessions for local survivors of sexual violence. In these sessions, the society:
informs survivors of their resource options to help them decide on next steps.
walk through the process of receiving these services.
takes the burden off the shoulders of survivors of sexual violence so that they can make informed choices moving forward through this difficult and complex process.
Candidate: This includes but is not limited to, researching options for the survivor’s specific case, placing phone calls and emails with the resources, booking appointments, etc. The student is assigned a mentor and would debrief each session with The No Society’s peer support team. They would be included in all team meeting activities and required training sessions.
This situation is ideal for someone with strong listening skills, who is confident communicating over the phone and email and is passionate about supporting survivors of sexual violence.

Students choose to be on site 1 day per week (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday) from 10AM to 6PM.
