Job Summary

In this practicum role, candidates will observe and support frontline staff in the day-to-day opeIn this practicum role, candidates will observe and support frontline staff in the day-to-day operations of SARA for Women’s housing program.


Responsibilities include assisting with welcoming and orienting new residents, participating in resident check-ins and supportive conversations alongside experienced staff, and contributing to a safe, respectful, and women-centred environment. Candidates will also support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and documentation under supervision, as well as assist in planning and facilitating community-building activities and events for residents.


This role provides the opportunity to observe and contribute to trauma-informed and client-centred approaches in practice, while also supporting safety planning and de-escalation processes under staff direction. In addition, candidates will participate in team meetings, supervision, and reflective learning opportunities, and may support staff with referrals and resource navigation to connect residents with appropriate community supports.


QUALIFICATIONS:

·       The ideal candidate is interested in working with women and children impacted by trauma, violence, and housing instability.

·       They are able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold strict confidentiality at all times.

·       The candidate is willing to work collaboratively within a team-based environment and contribute to a supportive and respectful workplace culture.

·       Basic computer proficiency is required.

·       Food Safe certification is considered an asset.

This practicum opportunity offers students supervised, hands-on experience within SARA’s housing programs supporting women and children transitioning from violence, crisis, or homelessness toward greater stability
