The Reach Gallery Museum—the leading public art gallery, archive, and local history museum in the Fraser Valley—invites applications for a new practicum position in the areas of graphic design and digital marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for an advanced student to develop applied graphic design and digital marketing skills while contributing to the vibrancy of the Fraser Valley’s cultural sector!
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Graphic Design & Digital Marketing (GD & DM) Practicum student will have a primary supervisory contact (tentatively the Curator of Art & Visual Culture), while working with various staff on the promotion of exhibitions, programs, events, and institutional initiatives. With direction from the relevant staff lead, the GD&DM Practicum student will:
• Provide digital design support for the promotion of exhibitions, public and educational programs, events, and institutional initiatives (such as membership opportunities, volunteer recruitment campaigns, etc.) on The Reach’s website, social media accounts, and other platforms (as applicable;
• Design and disseminate digital content aimed at engaging community members online, including web and social media;
• Capture still and/or video documentation of exhibitions, public and educational programs, and events, on site at The Reach and, at times, at offsite events in which The Reach is participating;
• Occasionally support other Reach events and activities as required.
CANDIDATE: Advanced knowledge of common Adobe Suite programs, such as Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop/Lightroom, is required. Working knowledge of video editing software would be an asset.
