Job Summary
We are seeking a Digital Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or Media Studies practicum student with an interest in nonprofit communications and social impact. The ideal student is completing a diploma or degree program that includes coursework in communications, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or related fields, and is interested in applying creative and communication skills within a mission‑driven, survivor‑centred organization. The student should be comfortable supporting content development, visual communication, and campaign‑based communications in a professional and ethical context.
SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The practicum student will support digital communications, visual design, and campaign‑based outreach for The No Society, a nonprofit organization that supports survivors of sexual violence. Working closely with staff, the student will assist with creating social media content, visual assets, and written materials that align with the organization’s brand, values, and trauma‑informed approach. The role may include supporting awareness and fundraising campaigns through content creation, design, and messaging, as well as assisting with blog content, informational materials, and donor‑facing communications. This practicum offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications while contributing to ethical storytelling, brand consistency, and respectful public engagement.
CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate is:
● Creative, organized, and able to balance visual and written communication tasks
● Interested in nonprofit work, social justice, and ethical storytelling
● Professional and reliable in both conduct and work ethic, with an understanding that their work may contribute to external‑facing communications, including fundraising campaigns, donor emails, public‑facing materials, and brand assets
● Able to receive feedback and revise work to meet brand, tone, and accessibility standards
● Respectful, compassionate, and aligned with survivor‑centred and trauma‑informed values
● Comfortable working independently while collaborating with staff and seeking guidance as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Strong written communication skills, including the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
● Basic understanding of visual communication principles, branding, and layout
● Experience using design or content tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
● Ability to create or support supportive, analytical, or administrative communications tasks, including:
● Assisting with social media content and campaign materials
● Supporting the creation of visual assets such as infographics, templates, or documentation
● Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards, particularly in a sensitive service context
